Ningbo is an international seaport city and capital of oriental civilization. It is in the first batch of open coastal cities and the economic center of the south wing of the Yangtze River. As an important advanced manufacturing base in China, Ningbo became the first demonstration city of “made in China 2025”. In 2017, it is estimated that the GDP of Ningbo will reach to 985 billion yuan, with the industrial added value surpassing 300 billion yuan and gained more than 140 “singles champion” in various segments field of Chinese national market, and has such titles like the capital of Chinese garment and textile industry, stationery capital, mold capital, brand capital and so on. Ningbo has a strong foundation of new materials industry and is one of the first batch of new materials high-tech national bases in China. In Ningbo there are two state new material research institute, namely The Ningbo Institute of Industrial Technology (CNITECH) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and China North Materials Science and Engineering Technology Group Corporation, in the field of new energy materials there are a number of lithium-ion battery materials enterprises, such as Ningbo Shanshan New Material Tech Co., Ltd. (negative graphite materials), Nicosn (cathode materials), NINGBO Veken Battery Co., Ltd (lithium-ion batteries). In recent years, Ningbo CRRC New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. developed super-capacitor and made itself a leader in the field, in 2016, two production lines of super capacitor had been put into operation.
